Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter renowned for his emotionally charged, vibrant works like The Starry Night and Sunflowers, characterized by bold colours and dramatic brushwork, though he achieved fame posthumously despite a short, turbulent career marked by poverty and severe mental illness, dying by suicide at 37.
